Social Services Coordinator

Job Requirements: Conlin Properties, Inc. is currently seeking a professional individual to serve as a Supportive Services resource to the apartment residents located at some of our properties throughout the Des Moines region. This position will assist apartment residents who are seeking life improvement services and information through local agencies, organizations, financial institutions and local government resources. 
Duties include:
·         Assist tenants with varied needs (i.e. paperwork, educational assistance, resumes and job search, computer skills)
·         Counsel/problem solve and refer tenants to outside resources as needed regarding issues (i.e. domestic violence, parenting, medical issues)
·         Work with tenants regarding emergency situations (i.e. rent money, food, mental health, domestic violence)
·         Give referrals as needed to other agencies/programs and keep an active relationship with those agencies.
·         Follow-up on all referrals/encounters and track and record results.
·         Arrange classes and events
·         Produce monthly newsletter
Requirements include:
  • Social Services degree or Apartment property management/leasing experience
  • Working knowledge of mental health, community resources, family dynamics and parenting
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills
  • Previous experience with low-income populations
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi task and prioritize
  • Ability to work independently and to take direction from a remote supervisor
  • Daily travel required throughout the Des Moines area. Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license are a must
  • Ability to walk extensively through the properties including up and down stairs
  • Excellent computer skills with ability to teach others computer skills (Microsoft Word, e-mail, research, etc.)
